Danish architect studio COBE contacted Glifberg – Lykke to obtain expert-advise on the integration of skateable functions into an urban planning project in Høje Taastrup, outside of Copenhagen. A new city hall, a large number of new residential buildings combined with a park that stretches nearly 1 kilometer are the premises for this exciting new project. The concept for the project is to create ‘the world’s longest playground’ and to incorporate a number of functions along the way. Skateboarding being just one of the activities to be included, but one to play a major role in forming of the space.
Large watering ditches and reservoirs run throughout the park to cope with heavy rainfall due to climate change, and what better way to incorporated skateboarding naturally into a space, than to draw inspiration from the huge skatable ditches that are being skated every day in the US. A few hundred meters of ditch space along with a bowl is included in the current design. Building of the park is scheduled to start in the spring of 2020 and should be open to public sometime in 2021.
